news

This afternoon I was watching the news about the war. I have a friend stationed in Kuwait but has missions every 2 weeks or so in Iraq and the stuff he tells me they do and see isn't near what the news makes it sound. To me this is were communication gets messed up! They are trying to make us think its terrible and every single soldier over there is going to die or get shot. My friend said its not like that at all and it makes him made that the news makes it sound like that. When we belive everything we hear on TV this is how rumors get started and communication between others gets screwed up. We should be able to trust the news, we are their audience but when i know some of the information they are giving us is not true or blow out of proportion its hard for me to trust them!

I'm not going to lie I used to think these blogs were dumb. That is until a couple of weeks ago. My best friend just got a job out in Denver, CO as a welder, he had his first full week a couple of weeks ago. On March 27 he was welding and his harness broke and he fell head first off of a 50 foot scaffoling. He had 2 blood clots one on each side of his head those were removed the same day as the fall in an all day surgery. He also suffered from 7 broken ribs, a bleeding splean, a punctured lung and a rip in his aorta. The doctors told us he would be in a drug induced coma for at least 4 weeks and not to plan on him getting out or being transfer until at least this fall. Yesterday we found out because of his progress he may be transferred to Columbia in 5-7 days to be closer to home! He is talking and sitting up on his own. Without a blog his girlfriend has posted many friends would not know how he was doing. And by everyone reading the blogs things dont get misunderstood we all know exactly what is going on.

Conversations through Text

I have found that having a serious converation by texting someone isn't always the best idea. On numerous occasions friends and I have been texting and having a good convo and the next thing you know one of us is mad at the other, all because we took the text received the wrong way. It is hard to understand the ton of voice through a text or even e-mail for that matter, you can't tell is someone is being sarcastic or serious, happy or sad. I have found the only way I can get my point across is through sad or happy faces, and exclamation points and sometimes that doesn't even work. My conclusion when trying to have a serious conversation with someone is to either call them or talk to them in person just so you can have good communication and nothing is taken wrong.
